Weddings in LA

One city, a dozen kinds of venue.

A Los Angeles wedding can mean a hotel ballroom downtown, a loft or rooftop in the Arts District, a garden estate in Pasadena, a canyon property above Malibu, or a backyard in the Valley. Each one asks something different of the sound and the schedule, and that is most of what a good LA wedding DJ actually plans for.

Load-in is part of the timeline

Downtown hotels and rooftops usually mean loading docks, freight elevators and set load-in windows. Some rooftop spaces also need fire marshal approval for the event, which can affect capacity and where gear can go. We get the venue's vendor rules early and build our arrival time around them, with extra room for LA traffic, so sound checks are finished before your guests show up.

Estates, neighbors and music cutoffs

Private estates and hillside homes sit in residential neighborhoods, and many of them set an earlier end time for outdoor amplified music than a hotel would. Some ask that the last hour move indoors or under a tent. Rules vary by property and by city, so confirm your venue's cutoff before you set the timeline. Once we know it, we plan the night so the biggest dance sets land well before the music has to come down.

Light and temperature

In LA, sunset falls around 8 p.m. in late June and before 5 p.m. in early December. That decides when your golden hour photos happen and when dance floor lighting starts doing its job. Near the coast, evenings cool off fast, so guests drift indoors earlier than you might expect. Cocktail hour audio that follows them, and a dance floor that is ready the moment dinner ends, keeps the energy in one place.

Why the three sound systems matter here

Many LA venues spread the day across a courtyard, a terrace and a ballroom. The Full Wedding puts a separate system in each space, so nothing gets torn down and carried across the property while your guests wait.

Booths and capture

Roaming booths that work in any room.

Our booths travel with an attendant instead of sitting in a corner, which suits tight downtown spaces and spread-out estates alike.

Wedding photography starts at $1,995 and wedding films at $3,495, shot on Canon cinema cameras. See film packages.

FAQ

Los Angeles questions.

Is there a travel fee for Los Angeles weddings?

For almost every LA venue, no. Travel is included within 75 miles of Los Angeles, which covers the city, the beach cities, the Valley and the San Gabriel Valley. Past 75 miles, travel is $2 per mile one way, counted from Los Angeles, and we show it on your quote.

Can you work with our venue's music cutoff?

Yes. Tell us the end time in your venue contract and we plan the timeline around it, including moving the last set indoors if your venue asks for that.

Do you handle rooftop and downtown load-ins?

Yes. We coordinate dock times, elevators and parking with the venue directly and send our certificate of insurance ahead of time.

Our ceremony and reception are at different spots on the property. Is that a problem?

Not with The Full Wedding or The Celebration. Each space gets its own sound system, set and tested before guests arrive.

How far ahead should we book an LA Saturday?

Most couples book 6 to 12 months out, and popular Saturdays go first, so check your date early.
