Weddings in Palm Springs

Desert weddings run on a different clock.

Palm Springs weddings happen at boutique hotels, mid-century modern estates, rental homes with pools, and resorts with the San Jacinto range behind them. The setting is the whole point, and nearly all of it is outdoors. That means the weather and the mountain shape the day more than any other part of Southern California.

The season

Most desert weddings land between October and May. Summer highs regularly pass 100 degrees, and even late spring can run into the high 90s, so a June or September date usually means a later ceremony, an indoor reception or both. Heat is hard on guests and on gear: we shade our equipment, keep backups ready, and plan a ceremony start that keeps people out of the worst of the sun.

The mountain shadow

Palm Springs sits right at the foot of Mount San Jacinto, and the sun drops behind the ridge well before the official sunset time, especially on the west side of town. Ask your venue or photographer when the shade actually arrives at your site. Plan portraits before it, and expect the dance floor lighting to take over earlier than the clock suggests.

Afternoon wind

Gusty winds often build in the late afternoon and evening, especially in spring. Wind pulls sound away from guests and picks up dust. For ceremonies we mic the officiant with a lavalier, place speakers close to the seating and weight every stand. Decor, aisle runners and booth backdrops need the same thought.

Rental homes and estates

Many private homes and vacation rentals in the desert limit guest counts or outdoor amplified sound, and some do not allow events at all. Confirm what your property and the city allow before you plan a dance floor by the pool. If outdoor music has to end early, we will plan the timeline so the night still peaks before it does.

Booths

Desert light, captured by guests.

The roaming booth attendant works the pool deck, the patio and the dance floor, and every guest leaves with their own QR link.

FAQ

Palm Springs questions.

How much is travel to Palm Springs?

Travel is included within 75 miles of Los Angeles. Palm Springs is past that, so travel is $2 per mile one way, counted from Los Angeles to your venue and shown on your quote before you book.

What is the best month for a Palm Springs wedding?

Most couples choose October through May for the milder weather. Summer dates work too, with an evening ceremony and a plan for the heat.

Can you handle wind during the ceremony?

Yes. Lavalier mics, close speaker placement and weighted stands keep vows audible on a breezy evening.

Can we have a DJ at a vacation rental?

Only if the property and the city allow it. Many rentals restrict events or outdoor amplified sound, so get that in writing from the owner first and we will plan within it.
