The short answer
- A content day is one planned shoot, usually once a month, that produces a batch of short-form videos (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) for the month ahead.
- It works because planning, setup and on-camera energy are spent once, instead of every time you need a post.
- Our Content Day plan is $2,195 per month: a monthly shoot plus 8 edited reels, with an option to double up to 16, on a 3-month minimum.
Most small businesses know they should post short video consistently. Most do not, because every video turns into its own small project: think of an idea, set up the phone, find good light, record a dozen takes, edit, caption, post. Do that twice a week and it eats your schedule.
A content day flips the model. Instead of producing videos one at a time, you plan a batch, shoot all of it in one session with a real crew, and get a month of edited posts back. Here is how it works.
The numbers
Why a minimum? Short-form content compounds. One month gives you a set of posts. Three months gives you enough to see what topics and hooks your audience responds to, and to make the next shoot better because of it.
How the monthly cycle works
- Plan the topics
Each month starts with a list of video ideas built around what your customers actually ask about: questions, objections, behind-the-scenes, how your product or service works, results.
- Write hooks and outlines
Every reel needs a first line that stops the scroll. Outlines keep each one short and on point, so you are not reading a script word for word.
- Prep the location and people
Pick the spots, decide who is on camera, and gather any products, props or wardrobe changes.
- Shoot day
The crew sets up lighting, audio and cameras once, then you move through the list. Variety comes from changing angles, locations and outfits between videos.
- Edit
Each reel is cut vertical, with the pacing short-form platforms reward. Ask what each edit includes (on-screen text, captions, music) so you know what is ready to post.
- Review and post
You review the cuts, then post on your own schedule across the month.
The best content day topics come from your inbox. Save every customer question for a month, and you have next month's shot list.
What a shoot day looks like
Every business is different, but a typical content day follows a pattern like this sample.
- Crew arrives and sets up
Lights, cameras and microphones go in the first location. A quick check of the plan and the order of videos.
- Talking videos first
Direct-to-camera tips, answers to common questions, founder points of view. Energy is highest early.
- Wardrobe and location change
A new look and a new background make the month's posts feel varied.
- Process and product shots
Hands-on footage of your work, your space and your team. This also becomes b-roll for the talking videos.
- Pickups and wrap
Extra hooks, alternate first lines, any shots that would improve the edit.
Treat these times as an illustration. Your plan, your location and the number of reels decide the real schedule.
Content day vs shooting it yourself
Planned content day
- One session a month, then you are done
- Lighting, audio and framing handled by a crew
- Edited reels delivered each month
- Topics planned around customer questions
DIY on a phone
- Very low cost
- Fast and casual, which can work well
- Takes your time every week
- Quality and consistency vary
DIY is not wrong. Some of the best performing social content is casual phone video. The question is whether you will actually make it every week. If you want to try it yourself, our guide to shooting and editing vertical video for Reels and TikTok walks through the basics.
Consistency beats perfection on social. A content day just makes consistency something you schedule once a month instead of fight for every week.
How to prepare for your content day
- A list of 10 to 20 customer questions or topics
- Two or three outfits, if you are on camera
- Products, tools or props you want shown
- A quiet space for talking videos (turn off AC and music if you can)
- Permission to film in your location and of any employees on camera
- Your brand colors and fonts, if you have them
- Examples of reels you like, from any account
How to tell if it is working
Do not judge a content plan by one viral post, or by one that flops. Look at the trend across the month and across the three months.
- Which topics get the most saves, shares and comments, not just views?
- Which hooks keep people watching past the first few seconds?
- Are more customers mentioning your videos when they call, book or walk in?
- Are inquiries asking better questions because they already watched your answers?
Bring those answers into the next month's planning. That feedback loop is what makes month three better than month one.
Who a content day is for
Content days fit businesses that sell something people have questions about: service businesses, studios, restaurants, clinics, real estate, coaches, venues and event vendors. If you can answer customer questions on camera, you have more content than you think.
It is less of a fit if you need one polished hero video, a TV spot or a full brand story. That is a different project. Our questions to ask before hiring a videographer for a brand video covers that side, and if you need a stack of ad variations from one shoot, our brand awareness and ad content work is built for it.
You can see the Content Day plan alongside every other format on our content creation page, or tell us what you sell and who buys it on plan your project.
Frequently asked questions
How many videos can you shoot in one content day?
It depends on length and complexity. Short talking videos move quickly; videos with several locations or product setups take longer. Our plan delivers 8 edited reels a month, or 16 if you double up.
Do I have to be on camera?
Not necessarily. Team members, customers (with releases) or product-focused videos with voiceover all work. Faces usually perform better on social, but they do not have to be yours.
Who posts the videos?
You do, on your own schedule. You get the edited reels to upload wherever you post.
Can I use the reels as paid ads?
Many short-form videos work well as ads. If ads are the main goal, ask about ad-focused content with multiple hooks and formats built to test.
